Does Lot Vulture stream our video feeds to the cloud?
No. Lot Vulture is built as a 100% on-premises edge computing system. The AI engine runs locally on a computer or server on your property. Raw video feeds never leave your local network, protecting customer privacy, eliminating data security liabilities, and requiring zero internet upload bandwidth.
Do we need to buy special AI cameras?
No. Lot Vulture is camera-agnostic. It works with standard, existing IP security cameras. The only requirement is that the camera provides a standard RTSP video stream or a static image snapshot URL. As long as the camera has a clear line of sight to the parking spaces, it can be mapped.
What happens if our internet connection goes down?
All AI detection, storage, and parking logging happen entirely offline on your local network. The system heartbeats to our cloud billing portal every 10 minutes to verify licenses, but it has a built-in 14-day offline grace period. In the event of a network outage, your monitoring will continue running uninterrupted.
How does the system handle rain, snow, or night glare?
Lot Vulture utilizes dual-threshold confirmation logic (hysteresis). Instead of triggering status changes on minor frame-by-frame shifts, the system requires a spot's occupancy confidence level to pass a high threshold (e.g. 90%) to mark it occupied, and drop below a low threshold (e.g. 15%) to mark it empty. This filters out noise from snow, rain, passing shadows, and headlight glare.
What kind of computer hardware do we need to host it?
Lot Vulture is highly optimized. It runs efficiently on standard CPU-only computers or servers for smaller properties. For larger configurations with many cameras and hundreds of spaces, the Commercial License unlocks GPU hardware acceleration (via CUDA on Linux or DirectML on Windows) to keep frame processing speeds under 0.2 seconds.
